Flax seed to prevent and treat gynecomastia

A few days ago, I received a letter via e-mail, from a guy who has gynecomastia. He read in a forum, that a man with gynecomastia had taken every day 5 flaxseed oil capsules, and it helped a lot with his gynecomastia. Flax seeds can really help you! I thought my answer would be interesting and useful to all who read this site. Here it is ....

Omega-3 are very important for the human body, and have a lot of positive effects. I do not think Omega 3 directly affect your gynecomastia, but certainly affect it indirectly, through increased insulin sensitivity, improving the permeability of cell membranes, and it helps you lose weight. In general, one should take one gram of EPA daily. I am also taking Omega-3. My favorute is Now Foods, Omega-3, Molecularly Distilled, 500 Softgels

Flax seed has very interesting compounds in it. Extracted flaxseed oil is rich in ALA, which makes the body’s EPA and DHA – both are omega-3 fatty acids. There is a "but" - some people, have lost their intestinal bacteria, that convert ALA-s into EPA and DHA. So, they do not have any beneffits from ALA.

In flax seed, there is another important ingredient - lignans, which are contained in the shell of the seed. Similar to estrogens, they compete with them, for the estrogen receptor. At the same time, they have far less estrogenic activity. That will occupy estrogen receptors, and leave no place to attach, and stimulate the mammary glands, to grow and form gynecomastia. There was a study to compare them in strength with the effect of the drug Nolvadex (tamoxifen) whitch is SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator)

Another value of flax seeds is fiber, they help you to go to toilet more often (much needed) and from there, to throw out more of the processed in the liver female hormones (estrogens). Individual fibers are associated with estrogen, and make it less active, and ready for discharge from the body. This will help you improve your ratio of male / female hormones, and from there to combat gynecomastia.

Now, a little bit about things that you have to be careful of in flax seeds, and in particular the intake of large quantities of them.

If you overdo it with the fiber, there is danger to develop deficiency of some of the valuable minerals for the body (Zinc, etc.). Fiber connects to minerals from food and forms undisolvabe salts, and thus prevents their absorption. From my previous articles, you know how dangerous it is for gynecomastia sufferers to have zinc deficiency. So do not overdo the use of flaxseed, as to avoid getting the opposite effect.
• The daily dosage is 2 tablespoons, not more. If you take large amounts of flax seed, there is danger of poisoning yourself with cadmium.
Excessive amount of lignans may lower the levels of testosterone in the body.

Impaired liver function is a cause of gynecomastia

Liver and gynecomastia - what is the connection?
Liver disease -> Excess estrogen -> Gynecomastia

What does the liver do?

The liver works as a filter that cleans harmful substances from the blood stream and sends them for elimination, including excess estrogen. In an hour through it pass, on average, 8 liters of blood. When the liver works too hard and can not function properly, toxins build up in the system, including estrogen. The liver normally inactivates (denatures) estrogens, and the inactivated estrogens are cleared by the kidney in the urine. Liver is an important part in estrogen elimination. Anything that impairs liver function or ties up the detoxifying function will result in excess estrogen levels. Without the liver breaking down estrogens there is a buldup leading to overdeveloped breast glands, in men (gynecomastia). Full detoxification of estrogen by the liver is essential for hormonal health and prevention of gynecomastia. If you are interested and want to read more and more specialized information, you can search Google for hepatic enzyme transport system "Cytochrome P450"

For us, people with gynecomastia, it is very important to have a healthy liver. This helps to maintain lower levels of estrogen.

Signs of an overloaded liver:
  •  Sluggish fat digestion
  •  Dark circles and puffy eye bags
  •  Skin blemishes
  •  Indigestion
  •  Poor bowel movement
  •  Fatigue or lethargy
  • Bad breath or offensive body odour

What overloads the liver
  • hHepatitis viruses
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Systematic overeating
  • Too much protein in the diet
  • Other preservatives added to food (so-called E's)
  • Pesticides, herbicides
  • Artificial hormones (anabolic steroids)
  • Toxins from the environment
  • Xenoestrogens
In individuals with liver failure or cirrhosis, the liver's ability to properly metabolize hormones such as estrogen may be impaired. Additionally, those with alcoholic liver disease are further put at risk for development of gynecomastia; ethanol may directly disrupt the synthesis of testosterone and the presence of phytoestrogens in alcohol may also contribute to a higher estrogen to testosterone ratio.

Healthy liver and gynecomastia reversal

As the liver plays an important role in estrogen detoxification and gynecomastia reversal, we need to maintain our liver health by having a healthy diet, exercising and supplementing with the right liver tonics! The good news is, that the liver is one of the few organs that can regenerate itself.

Milk thistle is traditionally used for liver disorders. This herb contains silymarin, which is an antioxidant to protect the liver by preventing toxins from entering the liver cells and by stimulating the regenerative ability of the liver. Silymarin also increases the glutathione content of the liver by 35% in healthy subjects. Glutathione is responsible for detoxifying estrogens. Increasing the glutathione content of the liver, thus, increases the capacity for detoxification reactions.

Dandelion is another herb highly regarded for its diuretic and blood cleansing capabilities. It increases bile
flow, thus enhancing the digestion of fats, fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients as well as the elimination of toxins and excess estrogen from the body.

NOW Liver Detoxifier & Regenerator is a proprietary blend of herbs and nutrients designed to support healthy liver function.

Liver cirrhosis is a cause of gynecomastia (man boobs)
Remember, that the liver is essential for proper metabolism of your hormones. If you have problems with your liver, this automatically puts at risk group of people, who are prone to gynecomastia. Examples are alcoholics with liver cirrhosis (picture at the left), which in most cases develop gynecomastia, easily lose muscle and get a kind of female distribution of subcutaneous fat (fat deposited on your butt, hips, gut, or so-called "love handles "

Liver failure is frequently listed as a cause of gynecomastia!

Gynecomastia operation (surgery) - before and after

gynecomastia surgery before after pictures, gyno before after pics
I have never written about an operation of gynecomastia. I saw that many are interested. The operation is the most effective method, and the fastest method, to deal with gynecomastia. Of course there are downsides - it is very expensive, and people go into panic when they hear the word surgery. As with any surgery, there are certain risks.

The link below has pictures from before and after surgery of gynecomastia. These are patients of Dr. Delgado (San Francisco), who leads one of the best Plastic Surgeon practices. He specializes in gynecomastia, and even developed a special technique for its operation. Of course, the services are quite expensive. And yet, here's what you can expect from an operation ...

The onset of gyno. Teenager with an early stage of gynecomastia.

Today I wrote a response to a boy, in a forum. The boy is 14 years old and has complained, that his chest is sore and feels like it has lumps under nipples. There is pain when touched. Classic early signs of gynecomastia!

Here's my answer. I think it would be useful for readers of the blog!
---
Met0s, when I was yonger, I had the same pain and lumps under my nipples. Back then, I did not know what it is. The pain resolved after a few months. However !!... my breasts had grown, and my nipples were puffy). Later, I realized that this is gynecomastia.

Go to the doctor! Let him review your chest and nipples/under nipples, but if he just says "They is puberty gynecomastia, It will disappear!". You should know that 30% of cases do not. You stay with gynecomastia.

Some things you can do:

1. If you drink alcohol, reduce it. Alcohol helps most of your male hormones to become female, and if you have many female hormones, your nipples will become itchy , then sore , and you will start growing small lumps under your nipples.

2. Freshly ground flaxseed stirred into a cup of yogurt. This should relieve the chest pain. Falxseed lignans are natural anti estrogen as powerful as Nolvadex/Tamoxifen, the drug that many bodybuilders use to treat or prevent gynecomastia.

3. Most teenagers have a zinc deficiency. When you do not have enough zinc in the body, male hormones become a lot easier to turn into female ones. I already told you what happens in such a case. Zinc is a natural aromatase enzyme inhibitor. Adequate consumption of Zinc Picolinate (50-100 mg/day) helps prevent testosterone to estrogen conversion. Most at risk of zinc deficiency are:

-athletes (you enter into this group)
-adolescent (and here you go)
-those who masturbate much, because sperm is very rich in zinc.
-eaters of cereals and breads, because they contain substances that interfere with absorption of zinc

4. If you have a lot of body fat, lose weight! Fat cells produce the aromatase enzyme, which converts testosterone to estrogen. High estrogen levels = GYNECOMASTIA!. In fact, most of the estrogen in males (and in post-menopausal women) comes from the conversion of testosterone in fat cells. Carrying more body fat for males means not only more estrogen, but also less testosterone!

Remember the signs of gynecomastia development - Itchy,sore,lumps,puffiness.

During mammary tissue growth (the onset of gynecomastia), you may notice the following symptoms -

· Puffy or swollen nipples
· Overly sensitive nipples
· Itchiness around the nipples

This is the critical point where it's time to do something before a lump developes!!!

Please help with links

Hello friends! I want to ask you a favor! For the past several months, during which this blog has existed, there are not any links to it. This prevents much of its popularization! I would be grateful to anyone who can help with gynecomastia links to this blog. It is clear to me, that nobody wants to put a link to a site where the main theme are men with boobs! The link does not necessarily have to be in a conspicuous place. It may not even be seen! This is a good way to say thanks, if you find useful information on my site for gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia and hormone metabolism

If you read the blog here, you're probably already aware that, gynecomastia is related to hormones in your body. If you want to learn more about it, you will need to learn how it works. The matter is not so easy, but I am trying to present it in the most simplified form. After a while, I will begin to write an article about the metabolism of sex hormones, in the body. There are many interesting things that will be useful, even for someone without gynecomastia. Several times I have mentioned, that even if all the tips here do not help to cure gynecomastia, they will have many positive side effects on your health!

Zinc deficiency causes gynecomastia! Zinc deficiency causes

Zinc deficiency causes gynecomastia
I promised you an article, which will explain the main causes of zinc deficiency in the body. I have slightly lost track of the time frames, but finally found time to write the article. So, in summary, we can say that the main two causes are either poor absorption of zinc from food, or insufficient amount of zinc in the diet. They in turn can be caused by:

1. Not eating enough meat. Zinc in meat, is in a form that is easily absorbed by the body. But if you are vegetarian, or eat many grains,  in your diet has many phytates (phytic acid), which bind to, and interfere, with zinc absorption!

2. Drinking alcohol. Ethanol interferes with the absorption of zinc, and increases it's discharge from the body, through urine.

3. You lack of gastric acid (HCL). This is one of the most likely causes, which at the same time diminishes in importance. But I think it should be given greater attention. The connection is this - if you do not have enough stomach acid, you can not absorb minerals (here comes ZINC !!!), proteins, a other important nutrients from food. If you do not have enough zinc, you will not have enough stomach acid. It's a vicious cycle that deepens your zinc deficiency (and not just it)! And just to add, that alcohol can damage the cells that produce the gastric acid. Here are some of the symptoms of shortness of this acid: belching, or gas in the first hour after eating, bloated stomach after eating, bad breath, you do not see the meat as delicious, nausea after dietary supplements, and vitamins are not digested, undigested food in your stools. Stool smelling bad, stomach pain, female structure (for men), acne, depression, lack of energy and power, sleepiness after meals, white spots on nails, constipation .

4. Eating to many foods rich in calcium. Calcium prevents absorption of zinc.

5. Too much copper (Cu) in your diet. It also prevents the absorption of zinc.

6. Eating soya (soya sausage, soya milk, soya cheese , tofu....). You see the contents of "soya", "soya protein", "soya isolate" run far away from these foods. Soya interferes with the absorption of zinc, plus it contains substances that interfere with the thyroid function, and hence slow down your metabolism, and make you fat. Soya beans contain substances, that act in your body, as female sex hormones. Remember: Soy is one of the most harmful foods for a man!! Avoid it at all costs!

7. Ejaculating and masturbating too often. Now, one of the main minerals you lose during ejaculation is zinc. You can lose up to 15mg of zinc in one ejaculation.

Zinc and gynecomastia. Zinc deficiency causes gynecomastia

I'll start with a few quotes from one of the most reputable fitness trainers in the U.S. - Charles Poliquin. Here's what he says about gynecomastia, or in other words, the syndrome of female breasts in men.

"In most cases, if not in all, gynecomastia is a sign of zinc deficiency in your body"
"Zinc is one of the best aromatase inhibitors (substances that prevent the transformation of male hormones to female)"
"Low levels of zinc in your body, means increased aromatization of testosterone to estrogen, and that means male breasts (gynecomastia)"
"Almost every modern man has a zinc deficiency, especially people who lift weights"
"Over the past ten years, I have not seen any of my clients, who was not deficient in zinc"

Zinc Information

It is an indispensable key mineral. Contained in every cell of the human body, it is responsible for over 300 enzymatic reactions, and plays an important role in all metabolic processes. Zinc has a strong antioxidant activity, important for wound healing, improving the structure of hair and nail growth, collagen synthesis, brain activity, carbohydrate metabolism. Improves the immune system. Zinc is an essential mineral for maintaining sexual function in men, helping to increase sperm production. Even mild zinc deficiency can lead to muscle atrophy or depression, and a low testosterone level.

Zinc is truly one of the most important elements in the human body. Unfortunately, modern lifestyles almost certainly guarantee us a zinc deficiency (this will be discussed a little later). You are probably already wondering if you're  one of those people, who have a zinc deficiency. To answer this question, you need to see whether you have symptoms of zinc deficiency.

Symptoms of zinc deficiency in the body:

* Acne
* Depression
* Slowed growth
* Much subcutaneous fat
* Loss of appetite
* Rashes and other skin problems
* You are constantly cold
* Slow (late) adolescence
* Weakened immune system (frequent illness)
* Difficult wound healing
* Chronic fatigue syndrome
* Brittle hair and nails
* Delayed puberty, in males
* Low sexual activity, in men
* Fluid retention, puffy appearance
* Gynecomastia (female breasts, in men)
* Redused taste sensitivity

There are other symptoms, but they are rarer and therefore, I will not list them here. And you probably already have an idea, whether you have a zinc deficiency. In the next article, I have prepared, I will tell you the reasons for zinc deficiency , which foods and processes prevent the absorption of zinc, and which helped it. And then, remember to drink your zinc, as I do, because it will help you to decrease your gynecomastia. Finally, more good news - zinc as a dietary supplement is very cheap.

Estradiol – the anti-male hormone

Estradiol is estrogen, or in other words – a female sex hormone. In blood tests, it is designated as E2. It is present in the bodies of both men and women. Many people, even some doctors, call it just estrogen, because the effects of estrogen are in most part due to this very powerful hormone.

The anti-male hormone

Estradiol, is an anti-male hormone! It helps you to easily get fat, prevents your body from building muscle. The result is an chubby and muscle-less man, who in most cases, has developed gynecomastia (men boobs). Now I will try to enlighten you on how Estradiol works.

First, Estradiol is a potent antagonist of the testosterone receptor. This means, that it binds to the androgen receptor, and makes it useless. When testosterone is linked to the androgen receptor, it activates it. So it does its role, namely- to make you more manly and muscular. However, if estradiol is associated with the receptor first, testosterone has nowhere to be connected. Hence- it can not activate the receptor. This means that if you have high levels of estradiol, no matter how much testosterone you have, it will not be connected, and can not do its job.

The case may become even worse! High levels of estradiol, may reduce the number of androgen receptors. This means, that in the process of natural regeneration (replacement of dead cells with live ones), your body produces cells with less androgenic receptors. In other words, Estradiol not only blocks androgen receptors, but causes your body to reduce their total number in the future. For all who are involved with fitness, and want to look more masculine, it means that we must reduce estradiol and increase testosterone, to adjust the number of androgen receptors, and therefore help your body to start responding better to training. However, this process takes time!

The second thing you should worry about, when it comes to estradiol, is that your body has estrogen receptors. When estradiol contacts a receptor, it activates it. This is good if you want to grow male breasts (gynecomastia), and get fatter, but very bad if you want to look and feel like a real man! Remember, in the chest, mammary glands (males also have), stomach and prostate are concentrated the highest number of estrogen receptors. Their activation by estradiol helps the growth of these tissues.

From where does Estradiol come?

Main method of production of estradiol in men is by aromatization of testosterone. This means, that the aromatase enzyme binds to testosterone, and it is chemically converted to estradiol. Consider for a moment! You know that this is a double-edged sword, aromatization process simultaneously reduces testosterone and increases estrogen! Obviously this is not good for men!

This is where Aromatase inhibitors (aromatase inhibitors - AI) come in. They bind to the aromatase enzyme, and deactivate it. This prevents it from turning your testosterone, to estradiol. So, you get a good ballance of testosterone / estradiol (androgens / estrogen), and a lot of free receptors for male hormones in you! In the next article, I'll write just about food and drugs, that affect the enzyme aromatase.

Fat, female hormones, male boobs and chicks

Subcutaneous fat produces estrogen and aromatase! Estrogens, in turn, stimulate fat storage. It is a vicious cycle, which is detrimental to men. This is a major cause of hormonal imbalance and gynecomastia (enlarged mammary glands in men). From here, you derive a logical conclusion, that the best thing you can do for yourself as a guy, is to get rid of body fat. This will help you to feel and look far more manly! Now, a bit about relationships with women ... When you see a man with a big belly and breasts, a women's instinct tells them, that this man has many female hormones and is not an alpha male! Women shun such men, so if you're one of them, GET SERIOUS AND REMEMBER MY BLOG’S ADDRESS!!!!!

What are areolas? Male with big areolas

areola, big areolas, puffy areolas, gland ducts, produce milk

Many questions have been received, asking what exactly are areolas. I mention this word quite often, and will continue to do so. I think I should explain.

Areola (Latin: areola mammae), is the pigmented area, around the nipple. The word comes from the Latin areola which means "open space".

The areola emerge around the area of the mammary ducts. The color of the pigment is different in different people, ranging from pale pink to dark brown, depending on the quantities of two compounds of melanin: eumelanin (brown pigment) and pheomelanin (red pigment). The color may change due to hormonal changes caused by menstruation, certain medications, and aging. Normally, during pregnancy the areola are darker. After birth, their original color can be restored partially or totally, but it's different for every woman.

The sizes and shapes of the areola also vary widely. Areolas of sexually mature women are usually larger, than those of prepubertal girls, and men. Areolas of most men are with a diameter of about 2,5 cm, while for women - 3 cm. In sexually mature females, areolas can reach diameter over 10 cm, and in women with relatively large breasts, and breastfeeding - even more.

Human areolas are mostly circular in shape, but many women and some men have areolas that are noticeably elliptical.

Gynecomastia is caused by hormonal imbalance

gynecomastia causes hormonal imbalance moobs man boobs

In one of my old articles, I said that the most common cause of gynecomastia, is hormonal imbalance, or otherwise - a disturbed ratio between male and female sex hormones in the body. In causes of gynecomastia (female like breasts) in men, I only mentioned this, but we will now hit topic more seriously, and deeper.

Impaired ratio between testosterone / estrogen

Testosterone and estrogens are hormones, that are produced by men and women. Both sexes have them, the difference is in quantities. Men have a lot of testosterone and little estrogen, in women, the opposite applies. These proportions are reasons for men and women to look different. When, in the body of a man testosterone does not dominate estrogen, some female characteristics appear - breast enlargement, deposition of subcutaneous fat, muscle loss, the man becomes more sensitive, sentimental, etc. In general, we can say that he becomes more feminine. The reason for all this may be low testosterone, or high estrogen.

Factors contributing to the unbalanced estrogen - testosterone ratio in men

Increased level of the enzyme aromatase. It is responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. As we age, the amount of this enzyme is increased, and this contributes to lower testosterone levels. Blocking this enzyme with different drugs, reduces the levels of estrogens, and restores the level of free testosterone.
Impaired liver function. In healthy subjects, the liver eliminates excess estrogen. This function of the liver may be impaired for various reasons: age, alcohol intoxication, or various drugs.
Obesity. Fat cells in the body are the main source of production of the enzyme aromatase. Low testosterone levels lead to accumulation of fat in the body, especially the abdominal wall. On the other hand, accumulated fats increase the level of aromatase, turning testosterone into estrogens. Therefore, in overweight men, restoring hormonal balance is essential.
Zinc deficiency. This mineral is a natural inhibitor of the aromatase enzyme, and its deficiency leads to increased levels of estrogen.
Age. After 30, every 10 years testosterone levels decrease in a man, by 10 percent.

Note, that if you have too much testosterone and you are overweight, your body will convert testosterone in estrogen, and this may cause gynecomastia. I mean that if you have a lot of subcutaneous fat, and go to the gym (hard physical work stimulates the secretion of testosterone), you should not bother to develop muscles and train hard, your main goal should be weight loss. Only when you remove subcutaneous fat, can you can think of more muscle!

Another thing related to fitness and gynecomastia. Even if you have a lot of testosterone in your body, when your estrogen levels are high, you will not experience the effect of high testosterone (a lot of muscle, less body fat). You will never go down below 10% body fat , because estrogen stimulates fat production. If you have plenty of estrogen,you can be sure you will have plenty of fat! The relationship of estrogen - obesity is easy to see on women, they have more estrogen, and are generally more "fluffy". It is important to know, that estrogen affects the male body pretty easy, and even a slight increase will have an apparent effect (subcutaneous fat, gynecomastia, beer belly).

I hope I've been helpful. I will be very glad if you appreciate the article and write a few comments!

What are hormones

Add caption

To understand which hormones affect gynecomastia, and how they do it, you need to know what hormones are, themselves, and what is their principle of action. Surely many people who read my blog, are aware of hormones, but I'm sure there are those who have only heard the word, but know nothing about the specific functions of hormones, and how they work. If you're the latter, it is strongly recommended you continue reading! More advanced information on this issue, will have to wait for my next article, where we talk about what we are interested in – hormones, and how they are associated with gynecomastia, or so-called "man boobs".

What are Hormones

Hormones are biologically active substances. They are synthesized by the endocrine glands, and influence the organism strongly. Once synthesized, the hormones enter the blood stream, and thus, spread throughout the body.

Physiological functions of hormones:

--- Along with the nervous system, they provide adequate reactions of organs and systems, to changing environmental conditions, ie provide a process of adaptation, for the organism.
--- Provide overall growth, development and reproduction of the organism.
--- Provide balance of the internal environment of the body.

HOW hormones work

Certain hormones act only on cells of well-defined tissues or organs, that have receptors, for these hormones. The system of effect is something like a key and lock mechanism. The hormone is the key and the receptor is the lock. Only certain key (hormone), may trigger a lock (receptor). Essential for hormones is that, small amounts of them, can cause enormous physiological effects via so-called cascade effects. This is when a hormone activates an enzyme molecule, the latter is then able to activate thousands of new enzyme molecules, which activate more. This cascading effect allows the hormones, to rapidly alter the course of many biochemical processes in the body.

Some hormones act at the cell nucleus, being associated with chromosomes, and activate certain genes. Others can not penetrate the cell membrane, but the effects are carried through intermediary molecules.

How to regulate the synthesis of hormones

Hormone levels in the blood, are regulated by the principle of negative feedback. It works like this: When a hormone has completed its physiological function the gland producing receives a command to reduce secretion. And vice versa - when the concentration of the hormone in the blood is low, the negative feedback to the gland, is a signal to increase secretion.

Without gynecomastia, and far more manly

I am writing an article about gynecomastia, male, female hormones (estrogen and testosterone), and their quantitative ratio in the human body. This provokes me to write you number of preliminary lines. I decided that I must tell you the good news. It is nothing new, but it certainly acts as a good motivator. Here's the news:

All tips that I will give, will not only improve your gynecomastia, but will help you drop large amounts of subcutaneous fat, especially in the chest, abdomen, hips and triceps. You'll look much more masculine, because most of the visual effects, that estrogen causes, will disappear. At the same time, they will enhance effects of male hormones. You will be more muscular, more manly and more ripped.
These things are interrelated! And if you have the desire and the will to fight your gynecomastia (man boobs, moobs), there will be many more bonuses that will come. They will be good side effects of removing the cause of your gynecomastia!

Causes of gynecomastia (female breasts), in men

The development of female breasts in men, or so-called gynecomastia can have many causes. I prepared a list of 42, as to each, I will devote particular attention and a separate article on the blog. The causes of gynecomastia are mainly divided into several major big groups:

• Impaired balance of androgens / estrogens (male / female sex hormones)
• Stimulation of mammary gland, by the hormone prolactin
• Various genetic abnormalities

Maybe you see, that you have to learn some things about the hormones in your body. You don't have to worry about each hormone, that plays a role in gynecomastia, I will devote a single article, where I will synthesize everything, you need to know about it.

Now, a few words about the three major groups.

Most causes of gynecomastia include disturbed ratio of male / female hormones. The word for this is hormonal imbalance. It can be caused by a reduced production of male sex hormones (androgens) or increased production of female hormones (estrogens). Androgens and estrogens have a very close relationship, which will be the subject of another article. Their quantities are affected by your nutrition, physical activity, adoption of different medications, stress, sleep, chemical constituents of the environment and others.

Prolactin is another cause of gynecomastia in men. It is a hormone, under whose influence grows, and develops, breast cancer. In women, it is responsible for lactation. The increased prolactin affects your libido and metabolism. Stress, certain drugs and benign tumors, can increase the amount being produced by the pituitary gland, in non-breastfeeding women, and men. This is it, for now. Details on this extremely interesting hormone, you will learn from the separate article on it.

For different genetic abnormalities, I can say little, because at the moment, I, myself am studying the matter, and gathering information. This includes people with Klinefelter syndrome, a syndrome of reduced sensitivity of receptors to male hormones (complete or partial androgen insensitivity).

Man with female breasts or what is gynecomastia

The word Gynecomastia  comes from Greek, and means "female-like breasts". Although gynecomastia is rarely spoken of, it is quite common - between 40 and 60% of men have gynecomastia. The actual condition is a benign increase in the mammary gland (YES! Men also have mammary glands.).

In most cases this increase is accompanied by an increase in adipose tissue in the breast area, and particularly around the nipple and areola. The amount of increased mammary gland, may differentiate - from 1 to 10 cm, usually about 4 cm. Increased gland looks like small female breasts.
Photo: classic gynecomastia, enlarged mammary glands, and fat tissue is increased.

In cases where the gland is not increased, and only subcutaneous fat in the chest area is increased, we talk about pseudo-ginekomastiya. There should not be hard tissue, resembling something like a ball or a small lump under the nipple or around it.
Photo: Pseudogynecomastia.

In a state where there is no fat, but the mammary gland is hypertrophied, we  use the expression “puffy nipples”

Photo: puffy nipples

Gynecomastia may affect one, or both breasts.
Photo: Asymmetric gynecomastia

In some cases of gynecomastia, the chest becomes painful to the touch and can even give discharge.

I hope my first post was informative. I will be happy to answer questions, comments and suggestions. In the next article I will write about the causes of gynecomastia. It will be a more general article, without going into great detail, as to enlighten you on the general framework of things. Later, we will delve into more specific things. There is simply so much information about it, it's really hard to decide where to start, so I hope for your support through your comments.

Here is how I will organize the gynecomastia blog

I already have an idea how to organize www.gynecomastia-causes.com. I will start from more generalized articles, and gradually delve into the topic of gynecomastia. This means that we will pay particular attention to the various causes and treatment, then we will try to elucidate their precise action and not just to tell you - "this helps", "this does not help." I'll try to use simple words to explain the mechanisms of action of the various causes and cures / remedies. However, the better you understand the essence of gynecomastia, the easier it will be able to determine the cause, and thus, to eliminate and counteract.
